Kiddie Cornhole?

Sometimes the best gifts are simple...And handmade!

In today's culture, even the littlest people in our lives are high tech and have long Christmas lists. There are certainly days when I sigh wistfully and wish my kids would be content with a cornhusk doll or an orange in their stockings! They really aren't too bad though and I appreciate that the #1 thing on their lists is "Books"...But the plastic toys do seem to multiply while we sleep!

I recently came up with a simple, handmade gift for a little one that turned out to be a huge hit. I was a little nervous that it wouldn't be appreciated among the more fantastic gifts but was delighted with the positive response it received.

What could be simpler than Bean Bags? Classically fun and a great way to use up some pretty fabric stash. I made two each of 5 different fabrics so that up to 5 kids can play at a time. Since I want these bags to last for a while, I used an extra layer of flannel under the cotton prints and made sure the seams were strong and firm before filling with corn and turning to topstitch.

That's it! Sweet and simple.

My husband purchased two Rubbermaid dish pans to use as targets and announced, "Indoor Cornhole!" And barring the occasional bean bag "war"...harmless and fun for everyone from Baby to Grandma.

I'd love to hear more ideas for simple and joyful holiday giving!
