A Mama gives thanks on her special day...

I had intended to post a special Mother's Day message on the blog. Unfortunately, this mama spent a couple of hours at the doctor on her special day getting meds for a nasty case of strep throat! I'm really too tired to write anything super creative or inspiring...So, I thought I'd just share a few of the blessings that have been showered down upon me this weekend...

Watching with motherly pride as Little Button rides her new "big girl" bike...

Admiring God's beautiful creation and feeling so grateful for the blessing of my pretty yard...

Receiving a beautiful gift from a friend across the miles who sent it just to let me know I'm loved...

Noticing Baby wearing a hand-me-down that was one of the first things I had ever sewn for my children...

Receiving a special gift from my folks on Mother's Day. They were the ones who bought me my first sewing machine and they decided to bless me with a surprise upgrade! I am so grateful for their generosity and thoughtfulness.

My daughter gave me this sweet little bouquet (she assured me it was "handmade" by the ladies at the craft show:) and it sits on my machine. It's pictured here on my trusty Kenmore but will be moving soon to my new Singer!

You know, I really could do this all day! Even in the midst of one of the most painful sicknesses I've experienced, blessings abound! I am so grateful for my motherhood. I thank God for my husband who treats me like a queen and is such a good father to the children we've been entrusted with. I also owe a debt of gratitude to that good man who insisted that I finally go to the doctor! I am filled with gratitude that God made me female so that I can experience the particular blessings that come with womanhood.

I wouldn't ever ask for this sickness again...But I must admit that in hindsight, the blessings far outweighed the challenges of the week. Now that I've listed a few of them, I am overwhelmed by the sheer number of those that went unmentioned. The hardest thing now is waiting to be able to hug and kiss the kiddos again!

Thanks be to God for making me a mommy!

And Happy Mother's Day to Blessed Mother Mary who I cannot help but love and honor for the sake of her Son. He made her beautiful and good and a model to all mothers who want to walk closer to Jesus. Ave Maria!
