Transformation...

A new blog look, a new house look, and a new outlook on what it means to live a Christ-centered life.

About the blog...
I like my new blog skin. It's pink and feminine and showcases one of my favorite Waterhouse paintings. It also points to the continued call and transformation that God offers to me in my vocation. I am growing younger in Christ as I grow older. There is increasing joy in simple beauty and the littleness of what I have to offer Him; for the smaller I am, the more completely I fit in the palm of His hand.

About the house...
Almost done. I feel like I've been saying that for months! But we're getting closer. A significant amount of painting and staining left to do. A ramp for my sister-in-law remains to be installed. A couple more walls to be knocked down. As our builder explained: "You've added a house to a house...it's going to take a bit of doing."

About life in Christ...
"The ways of God are not our ways, and the spiritual life is almost the contrary of what we fancy it" (Archbishop Luis M. Martinez, Secrets of the Interior Life)

I have been spinning my spiritual wheels for as long as I have been a Christian, trying to mold the will of God to my own plans and fancying that this was not so; imagining that consolations and positively answered prayers were the sign of spiritual progress; wondering why love could not overcome fear. I thought that holiness would come when I managed to keep an immaculate house and perfect order. He is showing me my weakness so that I might see that holiness is not about me but about Him.

He whispers...begin again.
