Public Outcry Against the Vatican is Misdirected...

Why is it that the American media doesn't seem to be able to put facts before sensationalism? Today's headlines are screaming about Pope Benedict's role in the "cover-up" failing to note (strangely) that there was no cover-up at the Vatican. And even though the facts are uncovered easily enough, it seems that they haven't yet discovered that there was indeed a cover-up in the case...in Milwaukee. The first allegations of abuse were brought to the attention of the diocesan officials in Milwaukee in 1955. The Vatican (and then Cardinal Ratzinger) weren't notified until 1996. Read more about what really happened here.

Now, if the Holy Father had the credentials of, say, Michael Jackson, he'd be given a pass to do pretty much anything he wanted with the law and little boys. But since he's an orthodox Catholic pope who is innocent of criminal activity and even the actual appearance of any impropriety...well...they'd better destroy him.

“To be a member of the church is to carry the mantle of both the worst sin and the finest heroism of soul….because the church always looks exactly as it looked at the original crucifixion, God hung among thieves.”
