A Birthday, A Name Day, A Cleaning Out the Fridge Day

Happy Birthday to Blessed Mother! We will spend the day in gratitude for the gift of her motherhood and total service to the love of her Son. We have no firm plans for celebrating yet...maybe something yummy like this pretty cake from Waltzing Matilda...

We're celebrating a new name day as well. I say 'new' because, before a certain age, a name day fails to make the radar for a child. So, we are celebrating for the first time in this way for Jellybean today. We don't have a child named Mary but we have two named in her honor. Fortunately, Blessed Mother has so many wonderful feast days and titles that we have had our pick of many months. I am partial to September so Jellybean gets this special day to honor her patroness.

Maybe we'll make some pretty lilies...

And dance like David...

And after all the celebrating is done...

I simply must clean out the fridge.

"Mary was the most simple of all creatures, and the most closely united to God. Her answer to the angel "Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum": contained all the mystic theology of her ancestors to whom everything was reduced, as it is now, to the purest, simplest submission of the soul to the will of God, under whatever form it presents itself." -- Jean-Peirre Caussade (Abandonment to Divine Providence)
