Laundry Soap Update...

To our laundry soap customers (current and potential!)...

We are temporarily sold out of the lavender scent (sold our last 2 pounds today) but will be restocking after the baby is born (any day now!). Lavender seems to be the most popular among customers but my personal favorites are the rose and peppermint.

Incidentally, we just made a new batch for home use. I am delighted to announce that an 11 pound batch lasted us just about a year even with our extremely heavy laundry schedule. I also just washed all of the baby's clothes and blankets with it and felt really good that I didn't have to use any special product to get a pure and clean result that isn't toxic for her newborn skin. Not having to wash separate loads will make life a little easier on me during her first days at home.

Since I have changed the way I clean my face and clothes, I have had far fewer skin reactions than I used to. I also moisturize with plain almond or coconut oil and have made a first successful batch of natural sunscreen. Bug repellent is next. I'd love to be able to make my own cold-pressed soap as well, but for now, I'm content to keep caustic materials away from my littles and purchase from lovely home-based sellers like the Catholic homeschoolers at The Goat Milk Soap Shop. My skin used to burn and react to ingredients in commercial products... no more!

It has taken a while to incorporate these different practices into my life but my skin and lungs are responding so well. It has been well worth the effort and investment. I'll share more links for DIY in the future. Right now, I'm off to ship some laundry soap...
