So what is a mother to do? The dishes are dirty. The laundry is backed up about a week. The kitchen is sticky. School planning needs to be done. The to-do list grew into a second page when I blinked.
And the baby is napping.
What is a mother to do?
She should make fairies, of course!
These fairies are just in time for the Feast of the Assumption so we have labeled them "Mary's Fairies." IF there were such a thing as real fairies, they would certainly be in the service of our beautiful Blessed Mother. Since there are not real fairies, we will just play with these and let our hands and feet be the real deal in Mary's service.
This was so fun to do with Cookie. I bought her the supplies ages ago. And since the baby was sleeping and hardly anything else needed to be done *ahem* ....
This was our first time making these and we learned a few things to do and not do in the future. All in all, it was a very satisfying project. The best part was giving them to the Button and Jellybean when we were finished. Cookie made the ballerina and I made the... well, just the plain fairy. You can tell it's mine because I tied her hair back in a messy ponytail so that it wouldn't get in the way of whatever she's doing. And it needs a good trim and didn't get one.
Guess which one both girls wanted? Yep... the prettiest one with the impractical hair that Cookie made...
We made a terrific mess.
So worth it.
